Rice Cooking On The Stove

Few months back, I used to cook rice the traditional way. I am using a thin cooking pot. Failure after failure, now, I managed to cook rice on the stove without letting the rice get burnt or sticking at the bottom of the pot.

Tips:

  1. Rinse the rice thoroughly.
  2. Measure the depth of the rice using a finger. Water measurement should start at the top of the rice. Then, put some water into the pot as much as until it reaches the mark on your finger. Add little more water half a centimeter.
  3. Turn on the stove with a very small fire. Do not cover the pot lid until water is 80% evaporated to the air.
  4. When the rice is almost cooked, cover the pot but need to be aware of the bubbly foam created from the high pressure in a closed pot. When that happens, remove the lid. The reason I like to cover the pot towards the end of cooking is to give the rice a steamy texture. It won’t be looking so dry. Do this until there’s no bubbly foam appears .
  5. Turn off the stove fire. Let the cooked rice cool down.
